But, as a magician, I’m used to being in control. I like to know what’s going to happen next, and I like to be able to control the narrative. Traveling solo, however, is a different story. There’s no script to follow, no audience to entertain, and no predetermined outcome. It was a daunting prospect, but I was determined to make the most of it.
I also met some incredible people along the way – fellow travelers, locals, and even a few fellow magicians. We shared stories, laughed together, and sometimes, we even performed for each other. It was amazing to see how a simple trick or illusion could bring people together, even in a foreign land.
As I reflect on my journey, I realize that solo travel has taught me some valuable lessons. It’s taught me to be more self-reliant, more open-minded, and more present in the moment. It’s shown me that even in unfamiliar surroundings, I can find a sense of belonging and connection.
As I look to the future, I know that solo travel will continue to play a role in my life. I’ve caught the bug, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next. Whether it’s exploring new cities, trying new things, or simply enjoying the quiet moments of reflection, I know that solo travel will continue to inspire and transform me.

I started to research my destination, reading up on the local culture, customs, and attractions. I booked my accommodations and planned out my itinerary, trying to make the most of my time.
